Celso Lopes ran back to his position shaking his head. 24 minutes into the match, Manfredo Brito notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Desagua's Sérgio Toledo. Sérgio Toledo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When Rogério Mota fell near the penalty area in the 32nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Galos's protests and gave Rogério Mota a yellow card for diving instead. In the 35thth minute of the game Carlos Fernando Donato who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Desagua's Sérgio Toledo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Celso Lopes in the 39th minute of play forced Desagua's goalkeeper Sérgio Toledo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sérgio Toledo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Celso Lopes in the 40th minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Carlos Fernando Donato couldn't finish the play. Carlos Fernando Donato might have been able to make a better finish in the 71st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sérgio Toledo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Carlos Fernando Donato ran back to his position shaking his head. Celso Lopes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sérgio Toledo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Carlos Fernando Donato's shot from short distance in the 75th minute. Celso Lopes struck a weak shot in the 76th minute. Sérgio Toledo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Galos. During the 78th minute of the match Flávio Bezerra completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Flávio Bezerra a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After a rather tough play, Desagua's Flávio Bezerra got a free kick in the 79th minute. Jimeno Iraido sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 82 minutes, Carlos Fernando Donato managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Galos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Carlos Fernando Donato was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 86 minutes into the match, Desagua's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Fernando Donato came free, but Sérgio Toledo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Jimeno Iraido came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Galos fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jimeno Iraido couldn't finish the play. Galos's Edvaldo Varela proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 95th minute of the match, managed to save Galos from getting a goal against them. Celso Lopes scored 3-0 in the 97th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Sérgio Toledo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.
