In the 8th minute, Ciro Rosado fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Zé Ramalho, passed just outside the right post. Tomé Mattos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Caio Leal in the 12th minute of play. After some careless play in the Pira defense, Laércio Queirós kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Zé Ramalho. The Pira fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Zé Ramalho should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, Tranqueira's Tadeu Santana got a free kick in the 21st minute. After recieving a nice pass, Pira's Elivélton Cavalcante tried to score from far away in the 22nd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Ciro Rosado sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Pira's Durval Ortiz got a free kick in the 32nd minute. If Caio Leal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Caio Leal came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Pira fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Caio Leal couldn't finish the play. 40 minutes into the game, one of Tranqueira:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 42nd minute there was a penalty for Pira. Elivélton Cavalcante stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Tomé Mattos. 1-1. In the 47th minute, Laércio Queirós got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ciro Rosado was the one to do the kick off. After a rather tough play, Pira's Sydney Salgado got a free kick in the 51st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ciro Rosado in the 64th minute of play forced Pira's goalkeeper Zé Ramalho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ciro Rosado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Zé Ramalho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cafu Gerber fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tomé Mattos having to interfere. In the 78th minute of the match, Cafu Gerber tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Tomé Mattos saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Paulo Renato Zanette's late challenge caught a Tranqueira's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. The audience thought a goal was coming when Caio Leal got free with Tomé Mattos in the 85th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Durval Ortiz during the 91st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 91 played minutes Pira got a freekick which was hit by Durval Ortiz. Zé Ramalho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ciro Rosado, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ciro Rosado sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match was over Pira could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Tranqueira throughout the match.
