Kléberson Xavier didn't get a good kick on the ball. José Vítor Loureiro took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 4th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Waldir Hoffmann. Antway E. C.'s goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After a rather tough play, Antway E. C.'s Kléberson Xavier got a free kick in the 5th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Antway E. C.'s zone, Fred Leal stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Waldir Hoffmann came out of the goal and Fred Leal tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Waldir Hoffmann made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Túlio Varela in the 9th minute of play. If Fred Leal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 16 minutes into the game, Túlio Varela recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Waldir Hoffmann. Túlio Varela showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. In the 22nd minute, Kléberson Xavier hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Europe F.C.'s zone, Enio Furlan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Zé Pedro Dias came out of the goal and Enio Furlan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 27th minute, one of Europe F.C.:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Europe F.C.. In the 32nd minute, Vitinho Nóbrega hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Túlio Varela sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Antway E. Tiaguinho Quintal missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 48 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Zé Pedro Dias right hand side. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Túlio Varela stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Antway E. C.'s Waldir Hoffmann played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Túlio Varela in the 53rd minute of play. Zé Pedro Dias made a fantastic save in the 57th minute, when Enio Furlan sent off a good shot on target. If Enio Furlan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. João Adolfo de Brito recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Fred Leal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Antway E. C. getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Kléberson Xavier hit a great ball. Waldir Hoffmann showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Túlio Varela in the 74th minute of the match. After 77 minutes, Dalmo Pires mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Europe F.C. and the Antway E. C. players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 89th match minute, Europe F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Túlio Varela to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Europe F.C. getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Edmílson da Silva hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Antway E. C.'s Durvalino Simões got a free kick in the 97th minute.
