Abelardo Teixeira was out of position in the 2 minute of play, and José Vítor Silva capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. José Vítor Silva really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. José Paulo do Valle's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 8thth minute, Abelardo Teixeira skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Wilton da Mata received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Basílio Marquez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 13 played minutes Tombador got a freekick which was hit by Erasmo de Queirós. After a rather tough play, Tombador's José Paulo do Valle got a free kick in the 15th minute. If José Vítor Silva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that José Vítor Silva's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Abelardo Teixeira was relentless in the 19th minute of the game. José Vítor Silva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Caetano Pinho struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. Basílio Marquez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Santos. In the 31st minute Caetano Pinho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Basílio Marquez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cido da Rocha hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. If Caetano Pinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Basílio Marquez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Caetano Pinho in the 36th minute of play. After having played for 38 minutes, Luizão Vale managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Santos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luizão Vale was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Basílio Marquez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luizão Vale, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. In the 45th minute, José Vítor Silva fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and José Vítor Silva made a kick off. After 52 minutes of play, Tombador's José Vítor Silva made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Abelardo Teixeira was left in no man's land by his defense there! Caio Furtado charged in rather forcefully in the 55th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Caio Furtado the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 55th minute, one of Santos:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Santos. After a defensive mix-up in Tombador's zone, Luizão Vale stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Basílio Marquez came out of the goal and Luizão Vale tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 76 minutes into the match, Tombador's goal looked a bit too open when Luizão Vale came free, but Basílio Marquez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Luizão Vale had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling José Vítor Silva in the 82nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Abelardo Teixeira prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a defensive mix-up in Santos's zone, José Paulo do Valle stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Abelardo Teixeira came out of the goal and José Paulo do Valle tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Caetano Pinho got free with Basílio Marquez in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a defensive mix-up in Santos's zone, José Vítor Silva stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Abelardo Teixeira came out of the goal and José Vítor Silva tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cido da Rocha kicked well hit freekick during the 98th minute of the match. 99 minutes into the match, Tombador's goalkeeper Basílio Marquez had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Luizão Vale. For all the effort they put into the match, the Santos players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Tombador.
