Décio Mello took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Willian Moraes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Benevenuto's Frank Sampaio got a free kick in the 17th minute. Dinei Branco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Elias Nunes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Ernani Galvão's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Décio Mello was relentless in the 20th minute of the game. Ernani Galvão kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. In the 30th minute Elias Nunes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dinei Branco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dinei Branco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Armindo Cordeiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dinei Branco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Elias Nunes in the 38th minute of play. A collision led to Arapongas getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Emílio Simão hit a great ball. Arapongas's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. 43 minutes into the match, Arapongas's goal looked a bit too open when Elias Nunes came free, but Dinei Branco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Erik Porto scored 1-3 in the 44th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Dinei Branco, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After the first half Benevenuto were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Armindo Cordeiro to make the kick off. Décio Mello showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emílio Simão in the 51st minute of the match. 52 minutes into the match, Arapongas's goal looked a bit too open when Armindo Cordeiro came free, but Dinei Branco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Willian Moraes came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Arapongas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Willian Moraes couldn't finish the play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Erik Porto got free with Dinei Branco in the 60th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Dinei Branco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Armindo Cordeiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 63 minutes, Leonardo Barral managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Arapongas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Leonardo Barral was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Leonardo Barral fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Décio Mello having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ernani Galvão in the 66th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Décio Mello prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 69 minutes into the game, Arapongas's Ernani Galvão nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Décio Mello made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-3. Arapongas were furious when Luís Fábio Custódio was red carded, 73 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After some fancy dribbling in the 74th minute, Ricardo Pinheiro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Benevenuto's supporters rose to their feet, but Ricardo Pinheiro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dinei Branco breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Frank Sampaio hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. Dinei Branco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Frank Sampaio, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. If Ernani Galvão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a defensive mix-up in Benevenuto's zone, Leonardo Barral stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Décio Mello came out of the goal and Leonardo Barral tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Arapongas getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Ernani Galvão hit a great ball.
