Ferreira's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Babacu SS the free kick. Patrício Guimarães might have been able to make a better finish in the 15th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Baltazar Melo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Patrício Guimarães ran back to his position shaking his head. Jorge Souza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Babacu SS's Cipriano da Fonseca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Erivaldo Varela in the 25th minute of play. Baltazar Melo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Patrício Guimarães, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Ferreira's Erivaldo Varela in the 34th minute got a chance for a shot 34th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jorge Souza stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Ferreira's Erivaldo Varela got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Patrício Guimarães scored 1-0 in the 67th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Baltazar Melo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 72nd minute, Erivaldo Varela managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ferreira's supporters rose to their feet, but Erivaldo Varela was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cipriano da Fonseca breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Mateus Pimenta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Babacu SS's Patrício Guimarães got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Baltazar Melo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Patrício Guimarães in the 92nd minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Patrício Guimarães managed to get in a good position for a shot. Babacu SS's supporters rose to their feet, but Patrício Guimarães was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Baltazar Melo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 95th match minute, Ferreira was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tiaguinho Dantas to maneuver through the defense. Babacu SS's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
