In the 3rd minute Dadá Pires shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Albertinho Oliveira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Glauco Barral's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Fabiano Braga was relentless in the 8th minute of the game. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Tapara's Dadá Pires in the 22nd minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Albertinho Oliveira was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Marapicu through an amazing save. 24 minutes into the game, Silvério Vergílio was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Marapicu's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Tapara the free kick. A collision led to Marapicu getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Silvério Vergílio hit a great ball. If Glauco Barral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 32 minutes into the match, Silvério Vergílio notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Tapara's Fabiano Braga. Fabiano Braga was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Glauco Barral in the 38th minute of play forced Tapara's goalkeeper Fabiano Braga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Dudu Paulista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fabiano Braga showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tião Alvarenga in the 43rd minute of the match. 45 minutes into the match, Marapicu's goal looked a bit too open when Dadá Pires came free, but Albertinho Oliveira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Leopoldo de Barros sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half Marapicu were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dadá Pires to make the kick off. Zé Favoretto shot from long distance after 57 played minutes, a shot that Albertinho Oliveira with certain difficulty stopped from going in under the crossbar. In the 64th minute Dadá Pires shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Albertinho Oliveira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Albertinho Oliveira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dudu Paulista in the 76th minute of the match. If Dudu Paulista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dudu Paulista sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Tapara's Adhemar Tróia got a free kick in the 83rd minute. Tião Alvarenga received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Fabiano Braga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Glauco Barral came up free with the goalie in the 87th minute, the Marapicu fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Glauco Barral couldn't finish the play. The attack was good, but when Glauco Barral in the 89th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Tapara's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Glauco Barral 94 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 0-5. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Marapicu had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
