When Denílson Freire came up free with the goalie in the 3rd minute, the Joaquim fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Denílson Freire couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Grêmio UG's Matheus Leme got a free kick in the 4th minute. With splendid footwork Hortêncio Rosa arrived in front of goal to shoot 3-0 by the left pole in the game's 43rd minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Denílson Freire got free with Décio Severo in the 47th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.
The wind increased when Cristian de Senna made the kick off in the second half. After 55 played minutes Joaquim got a freekick which was hit by Fábio Hoffmann. After a defensive mix-up in Grêmio UG's zone, Hortêncio Rosa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Décio Severo came out of the goal and Hortêncio Rosa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Fausto Amorim had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hortêncio Rosa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Décio Severo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Joaquim booed when Grêmio UG was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Doriva Prestes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Fausto Amorim struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Leandro Fonseca didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Grêmio UG. Décio Severo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hortêncio Rosa, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. Denílson Freire's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Décio Severo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 87th minute of play. When Hortêncio Rosa came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the Joaquim fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hortêncio Rosa couldn't finish the play. In the 95th minute, Hortêncio Rosa ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Décio Severo was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-1.
