Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Hortêncio Rosa started the match with the kick off. Walmyr Loyola made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Denílson Freire in the 3rd minute of play. Leandro Fonseca made a fantastic save in the 10th minute, when Kiko Abreu sent off a good shot on target. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Yan de Queirós during the 12th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Guarulhos FC booed when Joaquim was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Yan de Queirós didn't get a good kick on the ball. Leandro Fonseca showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Geraldo Ramos in the 17th minute of the match. Walmyr Loyola took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Denílson Freire, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Denílson Freire managed to get in a good position for a shot. Joaquim's supporters rose to their feet, but Denílson Freire was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Walmyr Loyola breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Telmo Moraes hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. Walmyr Loyola showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cleiton Queiroz in the 27th minute of the match. After having played for 30 minutes, Denílson Freire managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Joaquim's supporters crossed their fingers, but Denílson Freire was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Walmyr Loyola took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Denílson Freire, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Hortêncio Rosa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hortêncio Rosa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Geraldo Ramos to strike the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Hortêncio Rosa's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Walmyr Loyola was relentless in the 51st minute of the game. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Hortêncio Rosa in the 61st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Walmyr Loyola saved Guarulhos FC from getting behind. In the 63rd minute of the match Telmo Moraes sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Leandro Fonseca skillfully saved the ball. When Hortêncio Rosa came up free with the goalie in the 68th minute, the Joaquim fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hortêncio Rosa couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Guarulhos FC's Manoel Saraiva got a free kick in the 69th minute. Bernardo Paes's late challenge caught a Joaquim's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bernardo Paes helped the player get up and apologised. In the 71st minute, Bernardo Paes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Walmyr Loyola showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hortêncio Rosa in the 75th minute of the match. Hortêncio Rosa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Walmyr Loyola tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
