Hermínio Mandrak took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Anísio Koehler, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Salqueiro SC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hermínio Mandrak should have stopped the shot. 37 minutes into the match, Tejessuoca's goalkeeper Artur Paes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Humberto Cerezo. Zé Paulo Soares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 49th minute. Artur Paes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Tejessuoca's Artur Paes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zé Paulo Soares in the 55th minute of play. After 59 played minutes Salqueiro SC got a freekick which was hit by Leopoldo de Toledo. With his leg Hermínio Mandrak managed to avoid a goal in the 63rdth minute, when Tejessuoca's Rui do Valle fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Leopoldo de Toledo during the 71st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Leopoldo de Toledo hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. Aluísio de Castro took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 72nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Hermínio Mandrak.
