Zé Roberto Vianna made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Albertinho Soares in the 7th minute of play. 12 minutes into the match, Cotinguiba's goal looked a bit too open when Arí Matorin came free, but Zé Roberto Vianna reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bernardo Eger kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. Cotinguiba's Zé Roberto Vianna played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Albertinho Soares in the 14th minute of play. In the 15th minute, Emílio Lucas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Vivaldo Arantes hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. Cotinguiba's Iuri Cosme got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Albertinho Soares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zé Roberto Vianna having to interfere. After 28 minutes, Arí Matorin made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Cotinguiba's Zé Roberto Vianna tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Ismael Loyola managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cotinguiba's supporters rose to their feet, but Ismael Loyola was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Chico Tinoco breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 38th minute Albertinho Soares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zé Roberto Vianna saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gaturamo's Albertinho Soares got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Emerson Queiroz charged in rather forcefully in the 46th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Emerson Queiroz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play.

Wilian Furlan made a great header on Cotinguiba's corner, it was just that Gaturamo's Chico Tinoco managed to reach the ball for a save. After 54 played minutes Gaturamo got a freekick which was hit by Alfredo Paulista. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wilian Furlan in the 58th minute of play forced Gaturamo's goalkeeper Chico Tinoco to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Gaturamo's Alfredo Paulista got a free kick in the 59th minute. After 79 played minutes Gaturamo got a freekick which was hit by Albertinho Soares. Wilian Furlan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Chico Tinoco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 85th minute, Eusébio Jacinto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Emerson Queiroz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chico Tinoco having to interfere. If Ismael Loyola had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cotinguiba were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
