After a rather tough play, Mariapopolis's Kauã de Queirós got a free kick in the 18th minute. Ismael Loyola received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Alfredo Prado tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 25 minutes into the match, Lino Pirani had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Alfredo Prado. Mariapopolis's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Lino Pirani was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Mariapopolis's Alfredo Prado proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save Mariapopolis from getting a goal against them. Benê Lira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 35 minutes into the match, Igor Peres notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Cotinguiba's Zé Roberto Vianna. Zé Roberto Vianna was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Igor Peres received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Zé Roberto Vianna tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 43rd minute Benê Lira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zé Roberto Vianna saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Igor Peres couldn't finish the play. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ismael Loyola to strike the kick off in the second half. Zé Roberto Vianna made an important save on a dangerous shot by Edson Mesquita in the 51st minute. Mariapopolis's Benê Lira got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Zé Roberto Vianna showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Benê Lira, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. Edson Mesquita hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. Mariapopolis's Igor Peres got a good chance for a goal in the 71st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 77 minutes into the match, Cotinguiba's goal looked a bit too open when Benê Lira came free, but Zé Roberto Vianna reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Edson Mesquita during the 79th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Cotinguiba booed when Mariapopolis was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edson Mesquita didn't get a good kick on the ball. Benê Lira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zé Roberto Vianna having to interfere. Zé Roberto Vianna made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Benê Lira in the 84th minute of play. Benê Lira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Zé Roberto Vianna tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Despite being the better team, Cotinguiba failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
