Anísio do Valle fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fausto Guedes having to interfere. After some careless play in the Piquara defense, Anísio do Valle kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fausto Guedes. The Piquara fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fausto Guedes should have stopped the shot. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Isaltino Lira during the 9th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ulisses Barros in the 18th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Baltazar Baptista saved Jamandua from getting behind. In the 19th match minute, Piquara was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gilmar Proença to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Falcão Félix in the 21st minute of play forced Piquara's goalkeeper Fausto Guedes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ulisses da Mata fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Baltazar Baptista having to interfere. After having played for 27 minutes, Anísio do Valle managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Jamandua's supporters crossed their fingers, but Anísio do Valle was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ulisses Barros sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 31st minute, Ulisses da Mata got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Baltazar Baptista showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ulisses Barros in the 36th minute of the match. Piquara's defense didn't have a chance, in the 40th minute, when Falcão Félix scored to the left of an out of position Fausto Guedes, making the score, 2-0. When André Luiz Nunes fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Jamandua's protests and gave André Luiz Nunes a yellow card for diving instead. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

If Ulisses Barros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 58th minute, Anísio do Valle got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Piquara's Ulisses Barros got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 83rd minute, Cauã Alcântara got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Ulisses Barros managed to get in a good position for a shot. Piquara's supporters rose to their feet, but Ulisses Barros was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Baltazar Baptista breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
