When Nildo Pires fell near the penalty area in the 5th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Itapevy's protests and gave Nildo Pires a yellow card for diving instead. With a little luck, Itapevy's Diamantino Veloso got control of the ball when Joel de Barros tried to sneak it across the goal line. Edmond Stessel was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 91st minute. Itapevy's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Itapevy's Matheus Velloso got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Despite being the better team, Itapevy failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
