The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. VAI CORINTHIANS's Geovânio Almeida got a good chance for a goal in the 3rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 6th minute, Hudson Queirós hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Geovânio Almeida had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Geovânio Almeida received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Arlindo de Amaral tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Paulo Paraense charged in rather forcefully in the 28th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Paulo Paraense the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to VAI CORINTHIANS getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Paulo Paraense hit a great ball. Ernani Marquez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Victor Cabral tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Ernani Marquez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 48th minute Ismael dos Santos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arlindo de Amaral saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half Arvoredos were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Kléber de Souza to strike the kick off in the second half. Hudson Queirós sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 56th minute Ismael dos Santos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arlindo de Amaral saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Arlindo de Amaral showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ismael dos Santos, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ernani Marquez got free with Victor Cabral in the 61st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ernani Marquez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 72nd minute, Kléber de Souza managed to get in a good position for a shot. Arvoredos's supporters rose to their feet, but Kléber de Souza was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Victor Cabral breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. VAI CORINTHIANS's Victor Cabral played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kléber de Souza in the 74th minute of play. Victor Cabral made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luiz Gustavo Souza in the 87th minute.
