Erasmo Ribeiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nelson Lopes having to interfere. Nelson Lopes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dedê da Silva in the 40th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dedê da Silva in the 42nd minute of play forced Chelsea FC's goalkeeper Nelson Lopes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
