The supporters of Assu booed when Felicidale SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ademar Leal didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Luís Paulo Lara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Horácio Proença in the 11th minute of play forced Assu's goalkeeper Régis Recife to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Régis Recife took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Raúl Meirelles, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Luís Paulo Lara managed to get in a good position for a shot. Assu's supporters rose to their feet, but Luís Paulo Lara was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tiaguinho da Silva breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpected shot in the 23rd minute by Luís Paulo Lara got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Assu's Régis Recife played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Horácio Proença in the 27th minute of play. When Cacá Baiano fell near the penalty area in the 32nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Assu's protests and gave Cacá Baiano a yellow card for diving instead. Raúl Meirelles sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice moves Luís Paulo Lara could shoot a difficult shot in the 44th minute, which Tiaguinho da Silva however easily saved by the left post. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Chicão Couto made the kick off in the second half. Gildo Xavier struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Régis Recife didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Felicidale SC. Ulisses Nascimento kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. Raúl Meirelles received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Régis Recife tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 62nd minute of the match, Raúl Meirelles tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Régis Recife saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Horácio Proença kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Felicidale SC's Renatinho Loyola got a free kick in the 67th minute. Tiaguinho da Silva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luís Paulo Lara in the 72nd minute of play. 73 minutes into the game, Augusto de Barros was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Felicidale SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Assu the free kick. In the 73rd match minute, Felicidale SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Augusto de Barros to maneuver through the defense. In the 74th minute Chicão Couto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tiaguinho da Silva saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 82 played minutes Assu got a freekick which was hit by Diogo Linares. Horácio Proença could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 87th minute of the match, but Régis Recife made a huge save. Horácio Proença sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Felicidale SC's Raúl Meirelles got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Raúl Meirelles might have been able to make a better finish in the 93rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Régis Recife. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Raúl Meirelles ran back to his position shaking his head. Assu succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Felicidale SC had controlled the match.
