If Eriberto de Sousa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 7 minutes into the match, Afonso Valle had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Victor Barral. Republica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Afonso Valle was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Benjamim Castro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedrinho Botelho having to interfere. Christian Magalhães kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. If Eriberto de Sousa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Laerte de Salles came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Republica fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Laerte de Salles couldn't finish the play. Leonel Pombals short, quick shot in the 28thth minute got Pedrinho Botelho to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 37 minutes into the match, Dráusio Madureira had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Pedrinho Botelho. Fulu AD's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dráusio Madureira was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Eriberto de Sousa might have been able to make a better finish in the 40th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Pedrinho Botelho. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Eriberto de Sousa ran back to his position shaking his head. 40 minutes into the match, Fulu AD's goalkeeper Pedrinho Botelho had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Leonel Pombal. Pedrinho Botelho made an important save on a dangerous shot by Leonel Pombal in the 47th minute. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Leonel Pombal was the one to do the kick off. Pedrinho Botelho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eriberto de Sousa, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dida Neto during the 54th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 57th minute, Laerte de Salles left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Republica fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. Benjamim Castro charged in rather forcefully in the 66th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Benjamim Castro hit a great ball. In the 67th minute of the match Michel Palmeira shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Victor Barral showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Fabiano Abreu got free with Victor Barral in the 69th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 74th minute, Dida Neto reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Victor Barral. The goal made the score 2-2. Fulu AD's Pedrinho Botelho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leonel Pombal in the 78th minute of play. Pedrinho Botelho didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Leonel Pombal went, in the 81st minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score. Laerte de Salles sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 89th minute Leonel Pombal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedrinho Botelho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Eriberto de Sousa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Pedrinho Botelho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Republica's Benjamim Castro suffered a sore foot after 95 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Fulu AD's Dida Neto got his second yellow card of the match in the 95th minute. The referee ordered Dida Neto off the ground. Republica made a substitution. Agnaldo Varela replaced Benjamim Castro. In the 97th minute, Dida Neto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Republica fully deserved thier win.
