Through an outstanding action, after 8 minutes, Sidney Carvalho successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 9 minutes into the match, Ibitiara EC's goal looked a bit too open when Dida de Godoi came free, but Luís Paulo Mendonça reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dida de Godoi struck a weak shot in the 12th minute. Luís Paulo Mendonça didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for AMAVIL. A collision led to Ibitiara EC getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Severino Carioca hit a great ball. The supporters of Ibitiara EC booed when AMAVIL was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zeca da Fonseca didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Celsinho da Fonseca managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ibitiara EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Celsinho da Fonseca was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sidney Carvalho breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Sidney Carvalho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luís Gustavo Félix, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Claudinei Pinheiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luís Paulo Mendonça having to interfere. Luís Paulo Mendonça took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dida de Godoi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 30 minutes into the match, Ibitiara EC's goal looked a bit too open when Claudinei Pinheiro came free, but Luís Paulo Mendonça reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luís Paulo Mendonça was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Dida de Godoi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. In the 45th match minute, Ibitiara EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Benjamim Antunes to maneuver through the defense. AMAVIL's Dida de Godoi got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Luís Gustavo Félix was the one to do the kick off. After having played for 52 minutes, Dito de Almeida managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. AMAVIL's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dito de Almeida was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Luís Paulo Mendonça showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Noel Sousa in the 53rd minute of the match. Ibitiara EC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 56th minute, when Dida de Godoi scored to the left of an out of position Luís Paulo Mendonça, making the score, 0-2. In the 59th minute the ball was on its way in behind AMAVIL's goalkeeper Sidney Carvalho, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 62 minutes into the match, Ibitiara EC's goalkeeper Luís Paulo Mendonça had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Claudinei Pinheiro. 65 minutes into the match, Ibitiara EC's goal looked a bit too open when Dida de Godoi came free, but Luís Paulo Mendonça reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ibitiara EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave AMAVIL the free kick. Claudinei Pinheiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luís Paulo Mendonça having to interfere. Ibitiara EC's Luís Paulo Mendonça played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dida de Godoi in the 94th minute of play. AMAVIL's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
