The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, Cure AD's Silvério Bueno sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sidney Leite narrowly saved just below the crossbar. César Marques kicked well hit freekick during the 3rd minute of the match. In the 5th minute the ball was on its way in behind Itacaja FC's goalkeeper Sidney Leite, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 6 played minutes Itacaja FC got a freekick which was hit by Sidnei Neiva. César Marques sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Giovani Mello hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. Frédson Pinho made a fantastic save in the 17th minute, when Geovânio Carvalho sent off a good shot on target. 25 minutes into the match, Cure AD's goalkeeper Frédson Pinho had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Geovânio Carvalho. Haroldo Penha's late challenge caught a Itacaja FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Haroldo Penha helped the player get up and apologised. In the 26th match minute, Cure AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Haroldo Penha to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Edmílson Fantini managed to get in a good position for a shot. Itacaja FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Edmílson Fantini was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Frédson Pinho breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Edmílson Fantini had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Silvério Bueno scored 0-1 in the 32nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Sidney Leite, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Itacaja FC booed when Cure AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Danilo Toscano didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Cure AD's zone, Edmílson Fantini stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Frédson Pinho came out of the goal and Edmílson Fantini tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Itacaja FC's Edmílson Fantini got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Edmílson Fantini to make the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Cure AD's zone, Fabiano Rosado stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Frédson Pinho came out of the goal and Fabiano Rosado tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Frédson Pinho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Geovânio Carvalho in the 59th minute of the match. 67 minutes into the game, Itacaja FC's Geovânio Carvalho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Frédson Pinho made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Geovânio Carvalho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frédson Pinho having to interfere. Danilo Toscano's late challenge caught a Itacaja FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Danilo Toscano helped the player get up and apologised. In the 72nd minute, Danilo Toscano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 75th minute Edmílson Fantini shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Frédson Pinho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 76th minute of the match Délio Leal sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Sidney Leite skillfully saved the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 81st minute, Geovânio Carvalho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Itacaja FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Geovânio Carvalho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Frédson Pinho breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Geovânio Carvalho in the 83rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Frédson Pinho prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Danilo Toscano hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. Despite being the better team, Itacaja FC failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
