Celso Villasana who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 19thth minute tested the skills of Erivaldo Negri when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Igor Cerezo's late challenge caught a Maloca's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Igor Cerezo helped the player get up and apologised. Igor Cerezo hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jeff Cain in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Erivaldo Negri prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Remo da Fonseca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Igor Cerezo in the 27th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sílvio Luiz Vianna during the 28th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Remo da Fonseca showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tiaguinho Bastos, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Isidor Ricoy made a kick off. In the 53rd minute Maloca were awarded a corner. Artur Pitta went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Maloca's Jeff Cain to fire away a dangerous shot which Erivaldo Negri despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tiaguinho Bastos got free with Remo da Fonseca in the 54th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 55th minute Tiaguinho Bastos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Remo da Fonseca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Jeff Cain had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Isidor Ricoy sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
