In the 5th minute, Aníbal Furtado made a precise shot to the right of Edu Goiano. Palmeiras's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Aníbal Furtado in the 8th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Edu Goiano prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 12 minutes into the match, Palmeiras's goal looked a bit too open when Aníbal Furtado came free, but Edu Goiano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Serginho Siqueira made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 14thth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Bruninho de Sena would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. 16 minutes into the game, Serginho Siqueira cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Bruninho de Sena was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Bruninho de Sena took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luís Eduardo Varela, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Palmeiras's Serginho Siqueira got a free kick in the 21st minute. Aníbal Furtado sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 27th minute Aníbal Furtado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edu Goiano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 28 minutes, Breno Dias managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Canauani's supporters crossed their fingers, but Breno Dias was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Palmeiras's Luís Eduardo Varela slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Bruninho de Sena. That made the score 2-1 after 29 minutes of play. With a little luck, Canauani's Bruninho de Sena got control of the ball when Serginho Siqueira tried to sneak it across the goal line. Bruninho de Sena made a fantastic save in the 38th minute, when Serginho Siqueira sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Breno Dias in the 40th minute of play forced Palmeiras's goalkeeper Edu Goiano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 40th match minute, Palmeiras was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Paulo José Cunha to maneuver through the defense. Breno Dias fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edu Goiano having to interfere. Edu Goiano stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Breno Dias's shot from short distance in the 44th minute. Palmeiras's attack was well implemented in the 47th minute, but when Luís Eduardo Varela was about to shoot he didn't get a good hit on the ball and it hit the crossbar and flew over. Goal Kick. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

In the 53rd minute Serginho Siqueira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bruninho de Sena saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Edu Goiano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aníbal Furtado in the 67th minute of play. 70 minutes into the game, Severino Saraiva cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-1. Bruninho de Sena was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Edu Goiano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aníbal Furtado, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. Luís Eduardo Varela received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Bruninho de Sena tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Serginho Siqueira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The supporters of Palmeiras booed when Canauani was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Josué da Silva didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Luís Eduardo Varela in the 84th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bruninho de Sena saved Canauani from getting behind. 86 minutes into the match, Palmeiras's goal looked a bit too open when Aníbal Furtado came free, but Edu Goiano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 89thth minute of the game Aníbal Furtado who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Palmeiras's Edu Goiano was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Breno Dias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Elias Ribeiro got free with Edu Goiano in the 97th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Palmeiras's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
