Joaquim Vides took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cláudio Gaúcho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Imortal Tricolor FC's Emílio de Amorim got a good chance for a goal in the 8th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Miguel Tavares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 13th minute the ball was on its way in behind Meridiano EC's goalkeeper Tibúrcio Severo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 19 played minutes Meridiano EC got a freekick which was hit by Luís Gustavo Lopes. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vito Dracena in the 21st minute of play forced Meridiano EC's goalkeeper Tibúrcio Severo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 24 minutes into the match, Meridiano EC's Cláudio Gaúcho sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Joaquim Vides narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Vito Dracena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a rather tough play, Meridiano EC's Jaime Saldanha got a free kick in the 29th minute. Meridiano EC's Tibúrcio Severo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emílio de Amorim in the 30th minute of play. Miguel Tavares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Joaquim Vides tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Joaquim Vides made a fantastic save in the 33rd minute, when Miguel Tavares sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to Imortal Tricolor FC getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Breno de Lima hit a great ball. Cláudio Gaúcho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquim Vides having to interfere. Tibúrcio Severo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emílio de Amorim in the 42nd minute of play. If Cláudio Gaúcho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cláudio Gaúcho was the one to do the kick off. Cláudio Gaúcho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 57th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Imortal Tricolor FC booed when Meridiano EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Daniel Cunha didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 62nd minute Vito Dracena shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tibúrcio Severo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 65 minutes into the match, Meridiano EC's goal looked a bit too open when Vito Dracena came free, but Tibúrcio Severo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Meridiano EC's Fred Trancoso got a free kick in the 65th minute. Miguel Tavares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Joaquim Vides tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In a very dangerous position, a player in Meridiano EC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 71st minute. Penalty! Emílio de Amorim received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Tibúrcio Severo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 82nd minute, Vito Dracena got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Emílio de Amorim fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tibúrcio Severo having to interfere. In the 87th minute, Emílio de Amorim made a precise shot to the right of Tibúrcio Severo. Meridiano EC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 90th minute, Miguel Tavares managed to get in a good position for a shot. Meridiano EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Miguel Tavares was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Joaquim Vides breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
