An unexpectedly hard shot by Dagoberto de Lara in the 34th minute of play forced Cauipe's goalkeeper Bruno Mazza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Cauipe fans' excitement grew in the 36th match minute when Cauipe's Enrique Mattos looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. When Dagoberto de Lara came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the Aguiar AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dagoberto de Lara couldn't finish the play. After having played for 47 minutes, Zé Carlos Negri managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cauipe's supporters crossed their fingers, but Zé Carlos Negri was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Zé Carlos Negri made a kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Carlos Mota during the 52nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Cauipe booed when Aguiar AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlos Mota didn't get a good kick on the ball. 56 minutes into the match, Aguiar AD's Dagoberto de Lara sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Bruno Mazza narrowly saved just below the crossbar. César Arce made a fantastic save in the 61st minute, when Gil de Azevedo sent off a good shot on target. If Zé Carlos Negri had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 76 minutes into the match, Aguiar AD's goalkeeper César Arce had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Zé Carlos Negri. Cauipe's Bruno Mazza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Chicão de Brito in the 81st minute of play. Francisco Melo hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Cauipe's zone, Dagoberto de Lara stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bruno Mazza came out of the goal and Dagoberto de Lara tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Enrique Mattos struck a weak shot in the 86th minute. César Arce didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cauipe. The audience thought a goal was coming when Enrique Mattos got free with César Arce in the 89th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. César Arce took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zé Carlos Negri, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 92nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Aguiar AD's goalkeeper César Arce, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The Cauipe players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Aguiar AD from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
