In the 9th minute, Carajazinho's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Cafu Siqueira fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Jano Vale showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ciro Soeiro in the 11th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Marcelo Quadros during the 13th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 14th minute, Marcelo Quadros hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A hard and well directed shot from Régis Mendes led 14 minutes into the game to a goal after the ball had bounced deceptively just in front of the goal. Defensores de Argus's Léo Borges became a little unsure and couldn't grip the ball before it was over the goalline. Thus it was 0-1. After a rather tough play, Carajazinho's Amauri da Fonseca got a free kick in the 17th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ciro Soeiro in the 18th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jano Vale saved Carajazinho from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Carajazinho's zone, Cafu Siqueira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jano Vale came out of the goal and Cafu Siqueira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 22nd minute of the match Pedro Luiz Bezerra shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jano Vale showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. If José Maria Moura had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When the match had gone on for 28 minutes, Ciro Soeiro took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Jano Vale to make any attempt to save it. The audience was convinced that Davi Jacinto's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Léo Borges was relentless in the 32nd minute of the game. Cafu Siqueira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Jano Vale tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cafu Siqueira could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 43rd minute of the match, but Jano Vale made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marquinhos Amaral in the 45th minute of play forced Carajazinho's goalkeeper Jano Vale to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 48th minute, José Maria Moura left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Carajazinho fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ciro Soeiro was the one to do the kick off. Marcelo Quadros kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. Cafu Siqueira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. José Maria Moura's late challenge caught a Defensores de Argus's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. José Maria Moura helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Defensores de Argus booed when Carajazinho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. José Maria Moura didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sebastião Marques charged in rather forcefully in the 74th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sebastião Marques the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Davi Jacinto struck a weak shot in the 76th minute. Léo Borges didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Carajazinho. Cafu Siqueira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jano Vale having to interfere. Jano Vale showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ciro Soeiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. In the 94th match minute, Carajazinho was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Amauri da Fonseca to maneuver through the defense. Carajazinho's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
