Moisés Senna charged in rather forcefully in the 2nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Moisés Senna the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Edvaldo do Nascimento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cássio Souto having to interfere. If Percy Aparecido had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Vila Verde's zone, Hílton Borges stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Waldir Guedes came out of the goal and Hílton Borges tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Hílton Borges's late challenge caught a Vila Verde's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Hílton Borges helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Vila Verde booed when Bambuhy AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hílton Borges didn't get a good kick on the ball. Frank Dante sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 36th minute Eurico Veiga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Waldir Guedes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Edgar Eger fell near the penalty area in the 46th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vila Verde's protests and gave Edgar Eger a yellow card for diving instead. Eurico Veiga fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Waldir Guedes having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Eurico Veiga was the one to do the kick off. Moisés Senna hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. When Edvaldo do Nascimento came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Vila Verde fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edvaldo do Nascimento couldn't finish the play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Frank Dante in the 58th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Waldir Guedes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Waldir Guedes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eurico Veiga in the 63rd minute of play. Waldir Guedes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eurico Veiga, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. In the 72nd minute, one of Vila Verde:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Vila Verde. The referee gave Bambuhy AD a penalty, 75 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Gildo Mattos, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Vila Verde's Waldir Guedes. 1-0. In the 92nd minute, Percy Aparecido got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Percy Aparecido fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cássio Souto having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Bambuhy AD had won after a very even match.
