In the 4th minute José Dias shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Juninho de Almeida saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Almir Leal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Almir Leal came up free with the goalie in the 8th minute, the União Campograndense fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Almir Leal couldn't finish the play. Guilherme Zonta blasted a shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ricardinho Quirino having to make a save. After 21 minutes of play, União Campograndense's José Dias made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Juninho de Almeida was left in no man's land by his defense there! Almir Leal's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Juninho de Almeida read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 24th minute of play. Ricardinho Quirino made an important save on a dangerous shot by Edgard Machado in the 26th minute. The supporters of Mondego FC booed when União Campograndense was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roberto Quintal didn't get a good kick on the ball. Almir Leal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After having played for 33 minutes, José Dias managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. União Campograndense's supporters crossed their fingers, but José Dias was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Almir Leal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 44 minutes into the match, União Campograndense's goalkeeper Ricardinho Quirino had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jânio Ramalho. Guilherme Zonta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Ricardinho Quirino tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

Through an outstanding action, after 52 minutes, Juninho de Almeida successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 53rd minute, José Dias hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. José Dias in the 55thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Juninho de Almeida, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 64th minute, Jânio Ramalho made a precise shot to the right of Ricardinho Quirino. União Campograndense's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. União Campograndense's José Dias suffered a concussion after 68 minutes and had to leave the field. After 69 minutes, Raúl Lago mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mondego FC and the União Campograndense players grew even worse after the yellow card. União Campograndense's Vivaldo de Almeida was substituted for José Dias. After 68 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Mondego FC! Ronaldo de Sena shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. After 74 played minutes Mondego FC got a freekick which was hit by Alberto Vieira. Vivaldo de Almeida might have been able to make a better finish in the 76th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Juninho de Almeida. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Vivaldo de Almeida ran back to his position shaking his head. Juninho de Almeida showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vivaldo de Almeida in the 76th minute of the match. Wellington Abraão came free in the 79th minute and tried to tip the ball over Juninho de Almeida, but to the joy of Mondego FC's supporters the ball went over. Wellington Abraão fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juninho de Almeida having to interfere. Juninho de Almeida made an important save on a dangerous shot by Almir Leal in the 87th minute. 90 minutes into the match, União Campograndense's goal looked a bit too open when Guilherme Zonta came free, but Ricardinho Quirino reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 91 minutes into the match, Mondego FC's goal looked a bit too open when Waldir Baptista came free, but Juninho de Almeida reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. União Campograndense's Ricardinho Quirino played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Guilherme Zonta in the 98th minute of play.
