Eduardo Sena came out of the goal in the 13th minute to try and stop a shot by União Campograndense's Roberto Quintal. But to his dismay, Roberto Quintal quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when José Dias got free with Eduardo Sena in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Eduardo Sena made an important save on a dangerous shot by José Dias in the 25th minute. After having played for 36 minutes, Almir Leal managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. União Campograndense's supporters crossed their fingers, but Almir Leal was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 40 minutes into the match, União Campograndense's goal looked a bit too open when Sabino Quirino came free, but Ricardinho Quirino reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Luiz Fábio Gomes during the 42nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 42nd minute, Luiz Fábio Gomes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jerônimo Leite hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. In the 48th minute, Sabino Quirino ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ricardinho Quirino was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-1 at half-time.

União Campograndense's Ricardinho Quirino proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 54th minute of the match, managed to save União Campograndense from getting a goal against them. After having played for 59 minutes, Wellington Abraão managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. União Campograndense's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wellington Abraão was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 63 minutes into the game, one of Ibuaco AD:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave União Campograndense a penalty, 65 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Ronaldo de Sena, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Ibuaco AD's Eduardo Sena. 4-1. In the 68th match minute, União Campograndense was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Waldir Baptista to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Ibuaco AD getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Waldir do Valle hit a great ball. In the 74th minute, José Dias made a precise shot to the right of Eduardo Sena. Ibuaco AD's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 5-1. When União Campograndense's José Dias in the 77th minute got a chance for a shot 77th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ibuaco AD's goalie prevented a goal. The supporters of Ibuaco AD booed when União Campograndense was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sidney Barbosa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eduardo Sena took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José Dias, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Waldir Baptista received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Eduardo Sena tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Waldir Baptista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of União Campograndense booed when Ibuaco AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gilmar Cardoso didn't get a good kick on the ball. The União Campograndense fans' excitement grew in the 91st match minute when União Campograndense's José Dias looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 6-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Waldir Baptista fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eduardo Sena having to interfere. When José Dias came up free with the goalie in the 98th minute, the União Campograndense fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that José Dias couldn't finish the play. After 99 played minutes União Campograndense got a freekick which was hit by José Dias. União Campograndense's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
