Emanuel Correia didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Piquete. Elano Paraense hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. Evandro Pernambucano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. João Pedro Vidal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Celso Secco recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 21st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 23 minutes into the match, Umberto Paraibano notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Piquete's João Pedro Vidal. João Pedro Vidal was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Evandro Pernambucano took the ball and in the 26 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised João Pedro Vidal. João Pedro Vidal dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Evandro Pernambucano might have been able to make a better finish in the 35th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over João Pedro Vidal. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Evandro Pernambucano ran back to his position shaking his head. 37 minutes into the game, Evandro Pernambucano cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. João Pedro Vidal was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 45 minutes into the match, Piquete's goal looked a bit too open when Umberto Paraibano came free, but João Pedro Vidal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. João Pedro Vidal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Evandro Pernambucano in the 46th minute of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jorginho Bezerra to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Caracois's goal looked a bit too open when Celso Secco came free, but Emanuel Correia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Caracois's Emanuel Correia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Celso Secco in the 53rd minute of play. With a little luck, Piquete's João Pedro Vidal got control of the ball when Umberto Paraibano tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 60th minute, Elano Paraense hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A hard shot by Leopoldo Cunha from long distance, 61 minutes into the match, got João Pedro Vidal's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Diamantino Berger's late challenge caught a Caracois's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Diamantino Berger helped the player get up and apologised. Piquete's João Pedro Vidal proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 69th minute of the match, managed to save Piquete from getting a goal against them. Emanuel Correia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jorginho Bezerra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Elano Paraense's late challenge caught a Caracois's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Elano Paraense helped the player get up and apologised. After 78 played minutes Piquete got a freekick which was hit by Elano Paraense. In the 79th minute of the match Leopoldo Cunha sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but João Pedro Vidal skillfully saved the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Caracois's zone, Jorginho Bezerra stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Emanuel Correia came out of the goal and Jorginho Bezerra tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 84th minute Jorginho Bezerra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emanuel Correia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jorginho Bezerra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Celso Secco in the 96th minute of play forced Caracois's goalkeeper Emanuel Correia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Caracois supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Caracois would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
