Spectators: 0 (Terracing: 0, Seating: 0, VIP seats: 0) Os Galáticos's Abelardo Pimenta got a good chance for a goal in the 4th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Abelardo Pimenta came up free with the goalie in the 6th minute, the Os Galáticos fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Abelardo Pimenta couldn't finish the play. In the 7th minute, Armandinho Arantes made a precise shot to the right of Durval Neves. Mendes EC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. After having played for 10 minutes, Nando Seco managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mendes EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nando Seco was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 20 minutes, Tostão Netto mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Os Galáticos and the Mendes EC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Doni Souto took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 23rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Alex de Andrade. Os Galáticos's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After a rather tough play, Mendes EC's Ulysses Cordeiro got a free kick in the 24th minute. Nando Seco recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Nando Seco scored 1-1 in the 30th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alex de Andrade, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Abelardo Pimenta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Armandinho Arantes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Os Galáticos's supporters rose to their feet, but Armandinho Arantes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Durval Neves breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Mendes EC booed when Os Galáticos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. João Carlos Lara didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 39 minutes, Nando Seco managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

In the 55th match minute, Mendes EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Claudinei Xavier to maneuver through the defense. Durval Neves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Armandinho Arantes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 60th minute Agnaldo Saldanha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Durval Neves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alex de Andrade showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nando Seco in the 62nd minute of the match. Fernandinho Quintal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Alex de Andrade tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 66 minutes into the match, Os Galáticos's goalkeeper Alex de Andrade had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fernandinho Quintal. Os Galáticos's defense didn't have a chance, in the 71st minute, when Fernandinho Quintal scored to the left of an out of position Alex de Andrade, making the score, 2-2. Fernandinho Quintal in the 75thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Alex de Andrade, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Agnaldo Saldanha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Durval Neves having to interfere. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Os Galáticos players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
