Guilherme de Medeiros was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Renatinho Lara charged in rather forcefully in the 7th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Renatinho Lara the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Renatinho Lara kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. Guilherme de Medeiros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aírton de Almeida, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wellington Romero in the 15th minute of play forced Quicaba FC's goalkeeper Guilherme de Medeiros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Vitinho Correia's late challenge caught a Quicaba FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vitinho Correia helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Carnaubinhas getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Vitinho Correia hit a great ball. After some careless play in the Quicaba FC defense, Wellington Romero kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Guilherme de Medeiros. The Quicaba FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Guilherme de Medeiros should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, Carnaubinhas's Celsinho Rossi got a free kick in the 24th minute. Guilherme de Medeiros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wellington Romero, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Hernani Baiano came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Quicaba FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hernani Baiano couldn't finish the play. After 39 minutes of play, Carnaubinhas's Eliézer Quadros made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Guilherme de Medeiros was left in no man's land by his defense there! Quicaba FC were furious when Renatinho Lara was red carded, 42 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 41st minute, one of Quicaba FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Quicaba FC. The referee gave Carnaubinhas a penalty, 44 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Bebeto Nóbrega, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Quicaba FC's Guilherme de Medeiros. 0-4. Guilherme de Medeiros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wellington Romero, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Hernani Baiano made a kick off. If Wellington Romero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Quicaba FC defense, Vitinho Correia kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Guilherme de Medeiros. The Quicaba FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Guilherme de Medeiros should have stopped the shot. In the 58th match minute, Carnaubinhas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aírton de Almeida to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Quicaba FC's Guilherme de Medeiros got control of the ball when Eliézer Quadros tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 63rd minute Wellington Romero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Guilherme de Medeiros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Guilherme de Medeiros made a fantastic save in the 73rd minute, when Vitinho Correia sent off a good shot on target. 75 minutes into the game, Leopoldo Machado threw the ball into play from the sideline. Quicaba FC's Cacá do Valle quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Mané Ribeiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Vivaldo Cardozo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 84th minute Wellington Romero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Guilherme de Medeiros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
