Jardim Itu FC's Walmir Cavalcante tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Rogério Sá sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Flavinho Massa hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Cacoalinho's Anísio Chaves got a free kick in the 13th minute. Ramiro Ortiz, 14 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. After 17 played minutes Washington Barral rounded Jardim Itu FC's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 2-0. If Washington Barral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 25th match minute, Jardim Itu FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mazinho Prata to maneuver through the defense. In the 25th minute of the match, Washington Barral tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Walmir Cavalcante saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Washington Barral got free with Walmir Cavalcante in the 28th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Walmir Cavalcante didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Carlos Alberto Sá went, in the 31st minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. In the 34th minute, Simão Marquez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ricardo Figueiredo kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. 43 minutes into the match, Rogério Sá had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sílvio Luís Favoretto. Cacoalinho's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rogério Sá was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. If Rogério Sá had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Washington Barral to make the kick off. The audience was convinced that Washington Barral's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Walmir Cavalcante was relentless in the 54th minute of the game. A collision led to Jardim Itu FC getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Fernão de Queirós hit a great ball. Washington Barral received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Walmir Cavalcante tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 59 minutes into the game, Carlos Alberto Sá cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-1. Walmir Cavalcante was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Carlos Alberto França received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Sílvio Luís Favoretto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 73 minutes into the match, Washington Barral had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Walmir Cavalcante. Walmir Cavalcante showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Alberto Sá in the 83rd minute of the match. Carlos Alberto Sá fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Walmir Cavalcante having to interfere. 94 minutes into the match, Jardim Itu FC's goal looked a bit too open when Washington Barral came free, but Walmir Cavalcante reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Carlos Alberto Sá recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 97th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Cacoalinho fans cheered their team off the field, for while Jardim Itu FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
