With a little luck, Barriero's David Sampaio got control of the ball when Luizão Alcântara tried to sneak it across the goal line. Reynaldo Tavares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. David Sampaio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Matheus Lopes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 20th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 22 minutes into the game, one of Sapiranga F.C:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Wilian Dias walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. The audience was convinced that Matheus Lopes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Glauco Cosme was relentless in the 26th minute of the game. In the 31st minute Denílson Souto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Glauco Cosme saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 34 minutes into the game, Betão Pires was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Glauco Cosme took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Denílson Souto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Matheus Lopes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

In the 54th match minute, Barriero was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Yan Oliveira to maneuver through the defense. Glauco Cosme stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Denílson Souto's shot from short distance in the 56th minute. The supporters of Sapiranga F.C booed when Barriero was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luan Souza didn't get a good kick on the ball. Matheus Lopes made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 60thth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Glauco Cosme would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. 65 minutes into the match, Sapiranga F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Denílson Souto came free, but Glauco Cosme reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Glauco Cosme made an important save on a dangerous shot by Matheus Lopes in the 69th minute. David Sampaio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rubens Rosado in the 71st minute of play. Barriero's supporters crossed their fingers, but Denílson Souto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sapiranga F.C's Glauco Cosme proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 81st minute of the match, managed to save Sapiranga F.C from getting a goal against them. When Rubens Rosado, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 85 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The David Sampaio was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. David Sampaio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luizão Alcântara, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. Rubens Rosado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without David Sampaio having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Denílson Souto managed to get in a good position for a shot. Barriero's supporters rose to their feet, but Denílson Souto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Glauco Cosme breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
