Bubu's Luís Eduardo Velasco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luís Fabiano de Queiroz in the 12th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by William Leão in the 13th minute of play forced Vasantes's goalkeeper José Carlos Negri to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 17th minute Simão Gerber shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luís Eduardo Velasco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 19th minute, Sílvio Luiz Montenegro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Duarte Veiga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Geovânio Quirino kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. Luís Eduardo Velasco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Simão Gerber, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. 26 minutes into the match, Felipe Senna had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Luís Eduardo Velasco. Bubu's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Felipe Senna was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. 30 minutes into the match, Vasantes's goal looked a bit too open when Duarte Veiga came free, but José Carlos Negri reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Geovânio Quirino took the ball and in the 31 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised José Carlos Negri. José Carlos Negri dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. When Vasantes's Simão Gerber in the 38th minute got a chance for a shot 38th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Bubu's goalie prevented a goal. José Carlos Negri was out of position in the 39 minute of play, and Duarte Veiga capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Duarte Veiga really showed his touch with that goal: 2-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Simão Gerber managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vasantes's supporters rose to their feet, but Simão Gerber was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luís Eduardo Velasco breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Simão Gerber sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Simão Gerber to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Vasantes's goal looked a bit too open when Geovânio Quirino came free, but José Carlos Negri reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Simão Gerber fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luís Eduardo Velasco having to interfere. Bubu's Luís Eduardo Velasco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Simão Gerber in the 57th minute of play. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but José Carlos Negri showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Luís Eduardo Velasco made an important save on a dangerous shot by Felipe Senna in the 66th minute. José Carlos Negri took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Geovânio Quirino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Bubu's zone, Simão Gerber stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luís Eduardo Velasco came out of the goal and Simão Gerber tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 72 played minutes Bubu got a freekick which was hit by Duarte Veiga. Betinho Trancoso hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. 76 minutes into the match, Vasantes's goal looked a bit too open when Geovânio Quirino came free, but José Carlos Negri reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If João Paulo da Silveira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 81 minutes, William Leão mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Bubu and the Vasantes players grew even worse after the yellow card. When Vasantes's Simão Gerber in the 82nd minute got a chance for a shot 82nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Bubu's goalie prevented a goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luís Fabiano de Queiroz got free with Luís Eduardo Velasco in the 83rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, Bubu's Luís Eduardo Velasco got control of the ball when Simão Gerber tried to sneak it across the goal line. Rômulo Faustino struck a weak shot in the 86th minute. Luís Eduardo Velasco didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vasantes. Many of Vasantes's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Vasantes may have spent more time on the ball, but Bubu were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
