The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Horácio Rodrigues during the 12th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Marrecoteco A.B getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Horácio Rodrigues hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dito Cavalcante in the 14th minute of play forced Marrecoteco A.B's goalkeeper Hélio Vieira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Itapeim EC's Roberto Varela got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dito Cavalcante sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Horácio Rodrigues took the ball and in the 25 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Durvalino Neves. Durvalino Neves dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. If Diamantino Valle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 35 minutes, Horácio Rodrigues managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Marrecoteco A.B's supporters crossed their fingers, but Horácio Rodrigues was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Marrecoteco A.B booed when Itapeim EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fabrício Cunha didn't get a good kick on the ball. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Horácio Rodrigues stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Dito Cavalcante received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Hélio Vieira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hélio Vieira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fabrício Cunha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Marrecoteco A.B's players were relieved. 69 minutes into the match, Marrecoteco A.B's goalkeeper Hélio Vieira had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Diamantino Valle. After 74 minutes, Washington Rocha mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Itapeim EC and the Marrecoteco A.B players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 82 played minutes Itapeim EC got a freekick which was hit by Roberto Varela. 83 minutes into the match, Luiz Fábio Moraes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Durvalino Neves. Geovanni Pitta hit a great ball. Diamantino Valles short, quick shot in the 94thth minute got Hélio Vieira to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. When the referee blew the final whistle, Marrecoteco A.B could leave the field as winners, despite Itapeim EC having more of the ball for most of the match.
