The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Deodoro SS's Luís Eduardo Monteiro got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Juarês Fantini showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from João Paulo Branco, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. If Diego Nascimento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Diego Nascimento received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Juarês Fantini tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Luís Eduardo Monteiro to make the kick off. When Itaum AD's João Paulo Branco in the 62nd minute got a chance for a shot 62nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 67th match minute, Itaum AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jonathan Andrade to maneuver through the defense. In the 72nd match minute, Itaum AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Diego Nascimento to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Itaum AD's zone, Bernardinho Borges stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Laerte Almeida came out of the goal and Bernardinho Borges tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by João Paulo Branco in the 77th minute of play forced Deodoro SS's goalkeeper Juarês Fantini to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Itaum AD's Laerte Almeida got control of the ball when Bernardinho Borges tried to sneak it across the goal line. The Deodoro SS players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Itaum AD from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
