Itaji SC's Gualter Machado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Celso de Lara in the 47th minute of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell João Pedro Nunes to make the kick off. Celso de Lara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gualter Machado having to interfere. Laércio Toscano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers João Pedro Nunes in the 56th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg João Augusto Sampaio saved Ibituba FC from getting behind. A collision led to Ibituba FC getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Felipe Queiroz hit a great ball. Laércio Toscano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without João Augusto Sampaio having to interfere. Dinei de Barros hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Ibituba FC's zone, João Pedro Nunes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. João Augusto Sampaio came out of the goal and João Pedro Nunes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Celso de Lara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 70th minute the ball was on its way in behind Itaji SC's goalkeeper Gualter Machado, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Laércio Toscano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 76th minute, Ibituba FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after João Pedro Nunes fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. After a rather tough play, Ibituba FC's Jânio Amaral got a free kick in the 86th minute. Gualter Machado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Armando do Nascimento in the 92nd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Laércio Toscano managed to get in a good position for a shot. Itaji SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Laércio Toscano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. João Augusto Sampaio breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Itaji SC's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Ibituba FC had won, even though Itaji SC had held more of the ball.
