Luiz Gustavo Sena made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Celso Brodel in the 4th minute of play. In the 14th minute, Dedé Machado got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rodrigo Novaes hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. João Francisco Guimarães fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Michel Meireles having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Congonhal's César Barreto got a free kick in the 19th minute. Michel Meireles took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dedé Machado, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Michel Meireles stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dedé Machado's shot from short distance in the 21st minute. When César Barreto fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Congonhal's protests and gave César Barreto a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Congonhal getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. César Barreto hit a great ball. Benjamin Britto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Celso Brodel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luiz Gustavo Sena having to interfere. Benjamin Britto's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 34thth minute, Luiz Gustavo Sena skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Celso Brodel in the 40th minute of play forced Geman E.C.'s goalkeeper Luiz Gustavo Sena to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Congonhal's Rodrigo Novaes suffered a concussion after 40 minutes and had to leave the field. 40 minutes into the game, Dé Romero was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Geman E.C.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Congonhal the free kick. The supporters of Congonhal booed when Geman E.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dé Romero didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 47 minutes, Benjamin Britto managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Congonhal's supporters crossed their fingers, but Benjamin Britto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Benjamin Britto stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Geman E.C.'s zone, Celso Brodel stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luiz Gustavo Sena came out of the goal and Celso Brodel tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Congonhal booed when Geman E.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dé Romero didn't get a good kick on the ball. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 71 minutes into the match, Congonhal's goal looked a bit too open when Dedé Machado came free, but Michel Meireles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Geman E.C. booed when Congonhal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benjamin Britto didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 83 minutes, João Francisco Guimarães managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Geman E.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but João Francisco Guimarães was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Through an outstanding action, after 85 minutes, Michel Meireles successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 89 minutes into the match, Benjamin Britto had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Luiz Gustavo Sena. Geman E.C.'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Benjamin Britto was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. A collision led to Congonhal getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Celso Brodel hit a great ball. When the referee ended the match the Congonhal players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
