Ibatuba EC's Mané Mandrak got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 43rd minute, Guto Viana hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience was convinced that Mané Mandrak's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Juninho de Sena was relentless in the 46th minute of the game. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Remo Tasso stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Amadeu Azevedo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but Elder Queiroz made a huge save. 63 minutes into the game, Remo Tasso was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Geti's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ibatuba EC the free kick. 66 minutes into the match, Ibatuba EC's goalkeeper Elder Queiroz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Amadeu Azevedo. The supporters of Ibatuba EC booed when Geti was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Caco Trigo didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Guto Viana fell near the penalty area in the 85th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Geti's protests and gave Guto Viana a yellow card for diving instead. In the 85th minute, one of Geti:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Geti. The referee gave Ibatuba EC a penalty, 87 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Luciano Palmeira, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Geti's Juninho de Sena. 2-0. In the 97th minute, Amadeu Azevedo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Geti's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
