Edu Abraão showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Donatello Ribeiro in the 9th minute of the match. Passaros SS's Aluísio Vergílio suffered a sore thigh after 9 minutes and couldn't finish the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Pedrão Meirelles during the 9th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 10th match minute, SuperSport United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pedrão Meirelles to maneuver through the defense. SuperSport United's Edu Abraão proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 12th minute of the match, managed to save SuperSport United from getting a goal against them. If Thiago Gerber had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Passaros SS's Betinho Dante played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Richard Penha in the 22nd minute of play. Passaros SS's Hermínio Saraiva got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Pedrão Meirelles was shown his second yellow card after 31 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. The supporters of Passaros SS booed when SuperSport United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedrão Meirelles didn't get a good kick on the ball. Valdomiro Pena was extremely unlucky when he, in the 36th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Passaros SS's Valdomiro Pena got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 42 minutes, Thiago Gerber managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SuperSport United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Thiago Gerber was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Richard Penha recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 46 minutes into the match, Passaros SS's goal looked a bit too open when Thiago Gerber came free, but Betinho Dante reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Valdomiro Pena to strike the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Passaros SS getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Hermínio Saraiva hit a great ball. 60 minutes into the match, SuperSport United's Adhemar Nogueira broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. After some careless play in the Passaros SS defense, Thiago Gerber kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Betinho Dante. The Passaros SS fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Betinho Dante should have stopped the shot. Hermínio Saraiva kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. Valdomiro Pena scored 1-1 in the 81st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Edu Abraão, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Valdomiro Pena received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Edu Abraão tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 90 minutes into the match, Thiago Gerber had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Betinho Dante. Passaros SS's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Thiago Gerber was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Carlinhos Santos charged in rather forcefully in the 94th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Carlinhos Santos the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 94 played minutes Passaros SS got a freekick which was hit by Carlinhos Santos.
