Baltazar de Almeida started the match with the kick off. Antônio Carlos da Rocha hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. Dedê Botelho kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. Beto Toledo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Vítor Quaresma read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 8th minute of play. Antônio Carlos da Rocha got his second yellow card in the match during the 9th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. A collision led to Engenheiros Químicos PE getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Antônio Carlos da Rocha hit a great ball. An unexpected shot in the 13th minute by Jardel Valle got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Vítor Quaresma made a fantastic save in the 15th minute, when Jardel Valle sent off a good shot on target. Engenheiros Químicos PE's Vítor Quaresma proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 23rd minute of the match, managed to save Engenheiros Químicos PE from getting a goal against them. In the 25th minute Celso Sabóia suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. Elder Bertassi charged in rather forcefully in the 25th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Elder Bertassi the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Porteiras getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Elder Bertassi hit a great ball. In the 27th minute, Baltazar de Almeida hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 29 minutes into the match, Engenheiros Químicos PE's goalkeeper Vítor Quaresma had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jardel Valle. Vítor Quaresma took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Waldemar Antunes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Vítor Quaresma showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Waldemar Antunes, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. Renato Pernambucano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luís Antunes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Pedro Paulo Santos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jardel Valle could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 45th minute of the match, but Vítor Quaresma made a huge save. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, Waldemar Antunes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Porteiras's supporters rose to their feet, but Waldemar Antunes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vítor Quaresma breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 48th minute Waldemar Antunes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vítor Quaresma saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Waldemar Antunes to strike the kick off in the second half. Vítor Quaresma showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Waldemar Antunes in the 54th minute of the match. Vítor Quaresma made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jardel Valle in the 59th minute of play. In the 60th match minute, Engenheiros Químicos PE was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pedro Paulo Santos to maneuver through the defense. Waldemar Antunes struck a weak shot in the 63rd minute. Vítor Quaresma didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Porteiras. In the 74th minute, David Galvão ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Vítor Quaresma was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. After a defensive mix-up in Porteiras's zone, Pedro Paulo Santos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Renato Pernambucano came out of the goal and Pedro Paulo Santos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Waldemar Antunes in the 85th minute of play forced Engenheiros Químicos PE's goalkeeper Vítor Quaresma to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luís Antunes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Vítor Quaresma showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jardel Valle, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. Luís Antunes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Renato Pernambucano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luís Antunes might have been able to make a better finish in the 95th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Renato Pernambucano. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Luís Antunes ran back to his position shaking his head. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Porteiras were victorious despite being under pressure from Engenheiros Químicos PE for much of the match.
