The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A collision led to FC Catalunha getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Luiz Eduardo de Barros hit a great ball. Sílvio Britto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Elói Miranda, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. FC Catalunha's Sílvio Britto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elói Miranda in the 6th minute of play. In the 8th minute, Brasil's Xavier Angel Cueto seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Xavier Angel Cueto the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Brasil protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Xavier Angel Cueto had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. A collision led to Brasil getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Xavier Angel Cueto hit a great ball. 12 minutes into the match, Brasil's goal looked a bit too open when Gabriel Brasil came free, but Enrique Diniz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Falcão Oliveira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Enrique Diniz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Brasil getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Elói Miranda hit a great ball. After 21 played minutes Brasil got a freekick which was hit by Elói Miranda. After 31 played minutes FC Catalunha got a freekick which was hit by Oséas do Vale. Beto Medeiros's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 32ndth minute, Sílvio Britto skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After a defensive mix-up in FC Catalunha's zone, Elói Miranda stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sílvio Britto came out of the goal and Elói Miranda tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Elói Miranda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marcelo Favoretto kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Brasil's Elói Miranda got a free kick in the 47th minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Leonel Brion made the kick off in the second half. Sílvio Britto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Leonel Brion in the 52nd minute of the match. Elói Miranda struck a weak shot in the 55th minute. Sílvio Britto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Brasil. Elói Miranda took the ball and in the 57 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Sílvio Britto. Sílvio Britto dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. A collision led to Brasil getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Leonel Brion hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leonel Brion in the 64th minute of play forced FC Catalunha's goalkeeper Sílvio Britto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 66 minutes, Elói Miranda managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Brasil's supporters crossed their fingers, but Elói Miranda was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Enrique Diniz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Falcão Oliveira, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. In the 72nd minute, Wilson Miranda hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Elói Miranda received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Sílvio Britto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in FC Catalunha's zone, Leonel Brion stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sílvio Britto came out of the goal and Leonel Brion tried to chip the ball over his head. Sílvio Britto stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Leonel Brion's shot from short distance in the 81st minute. If Leonel Brion had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Oséas do Vale charged in rather forcefully in the 96th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Oséas do Vale the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, FC Catalunha's Oséas do Vale got a free kick in the 96th minute. Afonso Valadares struck a weak shot in the 97th minute. Sílvio Britto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Brasil. Brasil walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
