With a little luck, Itamoabo SC's Pedrinho Ortiz got control of the ball when Daniel Lopez tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to S. E. Luciano Galvão lost his temper 14 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 13th minute of the game. One of S. E. Palestra:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Itamoabo SC:s goal. Daniel Lopez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Pedrinho Ortiz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Itamoabo SC's zone, Genílson Romero stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pedrinho Ortiz came out of the goal and Genílson Romero tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Joaquim Alvarenga showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nestor Moreno, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Remo Schmidt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquim Alvarenga having to interfere. Joaquim Alvarenga showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Custódio Leal, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Daniel Lopez's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Pedrinho Ortiz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 33rd minute of play. In the 34th minute, Gabriel Leal got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 40th minute of the match, Daniel Lopez got a very nice opportunity to score, but Pedrinho Ortiz was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post.

The wind increased when Daniel Lopez made the kick off in the second half. Remo Schmidt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Joaquim Alvarenga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 53rd minute of the match Augusto Lago shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Joaquim Alvarenga showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 54th minute, Gabriel Leal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jefferson Pombal kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. When the match had gone on for 66 minutes, Custódio Leal took a quick shot and it went in 1-2 without a chance for Joaquim Alvarenga to make any attempt to save it. S. E. Palestra's Daniel Lopez got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 76 minutes into the match, Daniel Lopez notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of Itamoabo SC's Pedrinho Ortiz. Pedrinho Ortiz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Pedrinho Ortiz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Lopez in the 86th minute of play. Genílson Romero fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedrinho Ortiz having to interfere. In the 96th minute, Itamoabo SC's Custódio Leal ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Joaquim Alvarenga. Joaquim Alvarenga yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-3. Itamoabo SC were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over S. E. Palestra's much stronger midfield.
