Washington Félix showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Percy Alvarenga in the 8th minute of the match. Percy Alvarenga might have been able to make a better finish in the 14th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Washington Félix. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Percy Alvarenga ran back to his position shaking his head. When Gurjao EC's Gugu Luz in the 22nd minute got a chance for a shot 22nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Aveiro's goalie prevented a goal. Reinaldo Antunes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Victor Queiroz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Gurjao EC getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Zé Pedro Medeiros hit a great ball. Aluísio Cunha struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Victor Queiroz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gurjao EC. Washington Félix made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Percy Alvarenga in the 45th minute of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gugu Luz was the one to do the kick off. Victor Queiroz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gugu Luz in the 53rd minute of play. A collision led to Aveiro getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Duda Tepedino hit a great ball. When Percy Alvarenga came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Aveiro fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Percy Alvarenga couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Reinaldo Antunes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Victor Queiroz was relentless in the 65th minute of the game. In the 70th minute Percy Alvarenga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Washington Félix saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gugu Luz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Reinaldo Antunes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Luís Paulo Eger fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Washington Félix having to interfere. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
