The crowd rose to their feet as Apurima SC's Juan Arruda slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of José Alvarenga. Tomezinho's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Apurima SC the free kick. After a defensive mix-up in Tomezinho's zone, Juan Arruda stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. José Alvarenga came out of the goal and Juan Arruda tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 40 minutes into the match, Tomezinho's goal looked a bit too open when Juan Arruda came free, but José Alvarenga reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Raimundo Porto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Juan Arruda made the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the game, Apurima SC's Juan Arruda nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. José Alvarenga made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. 58 minutes into the match, Apurima SC's goalkeeper Dênis Garcia had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Américo Arósio. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Raimundo Porto in the 60th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg José Alvarenga saved Tomezinho from getting behind. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Evandro Moura during the 66th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 89th match minute, Tomezinho was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Denílson Schmidt to maneuver through the defense. There was no doubt that Apurima SC were the better team. Apurima SC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
