With an all-out effort, Tangerina's Jefferson Garcia threw himself towards the right post 3 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Wilian Baptista, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Flamengo AC's Reynaldo Alcântara got a good chance for a goal in the 5th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Váldson Salgado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nelsinho de Moraes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Beto Pires received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Váldson Salgado tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Flamengo AC's Jefferson Garcia proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 13th minute of the match, managed to save Flamengo AC from getting a goal against them. 15 minutes into the match, Silvinho Silva had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jefferson Garcia. Flamengo AC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Silvinho Silva was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. After some careless play in the Tangerina defense, Nelsinho de Moraes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Váldson Salgado. The Tangerina fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Váldson Salgado should have stopped the shot. Silvinho Silva fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jefferson Garcia having to interfere. In the 30th match minute, Tangerina was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gualter Dantas to maneuver through the defense. Váldson Salgado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nelsinho de Moraes in the 31st minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Beto Pires in the 33rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Váldson Salgado prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of Flamengo AC booed when Tangerina was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Enéas Vieira didn't get a good kick on the ball. Váldson Salgado came out of the goal in the 42nd minute to try and stop a shot by Flamengo AC's Beto Pires. But to his dismay, Beto Pires quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Jefferson Garcia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wilian Baptista, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Tangerina players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Flamengo AC were winning 1-2.
The wind increased when Wilian Baptista made the kick off in the second half. Nilton da Mata hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Silvinho Silva managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tangerina's supporters rose to their feet, but Silvinho Silva was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jefferson Garcia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Tangerina reached it. Silvinho Silva took the ball and in the 94 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jefferson Garcia. Jefferson Garcia dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
