The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Gaviaozinho SC. Álvaro Carioca received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Jonas Branco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gerson Pires sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Gerson Pires had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Waldir Duarte fell near the penalty area in the 24th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gaviaozinho SC's protests and gave Waldir Duarte a yellow card for diving instead. In the 24th match minute, Gaviaozinho SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Waldir Duarte to maneuver through the defense. In the 28th minute, one of Gaviaozinho SC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Gaviaozinho SC. Gaviaozinho SC:s Almir Leão showed great skill when he stopped Deivid Coelho:s penalty. 33 minutes into the game, Hélder Palmeira was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Perdeu Mamando FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gaviaozinho SC the free kick. After 33 played minutes Perdeu Mamando FC got a freekick which was hit by Hélder Palmeira. After having played for 36 minutes, Hélder Palmeira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Perdeu Mamando FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hélder Palmeira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 40 minutes into the match, Gaviaozinho SC's Álvaro Carioca sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jonas Branco narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Gerson Pires managed to get in a good position for a shot. Perdeu Mamando FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Gerson Pires was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Almir Leão breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After the first half Gaviaozinho SC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gerson Pires to strike the kick off in the second half. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 51st minute of the game. One of Perdeu Mamando FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Gaviaozinho SC:s goal. During the 63rd minute of the match Wágner Sabóia completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Wágner Sabóia a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 64th match minute, Gaviaozinho SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wágner Sabóia to maneuver through the defense. Fábio Azevedo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Almir Leão having to interfere. Almir Leão took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gerson Pires, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Gaviaozinho SC's zone, Gerson Pires stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Almir Leão came out of the goal and Gerson Pires tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gerson Pires's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Almir Leão read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 71st minute of play. Luís Fernando Sampaio struck a weak shot in the 75th minute. Jonas Branco didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gaviaozinho SC. With a little luck, Perdeu Mamando FC's Jonas Branco got control of the ball when Álvaro Carioca tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Gaviaozinho SC booed when Perdeu Mamando FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hélder Palmeira didn't get a good kick on the ball. Almir Leão stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gerson Pires's shot from short distance in the 81st minute. Almir Leão made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gerson Pires in the 88th minute of play. Álvaro Carioca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Erasmo Mineiro during the 96th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Deivid Coelho was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 97th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. When the final whistle went the supporters of Gaviaozinho SC were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Perdeu Mamando FC side.
