The referee ignored Matetui EC's protests and gave Eliseu Vidal a yellow card for diving instead. In a very dangerous position, a player in Matetui EC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 4th minute. Penalty! Carlinhos de Toledo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Matetui EC's zone, Carlinhos de Toledo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vicente de Barros came out of the goal and Carlinhos de Toledo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Patrick Seco recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 20th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 22nd match minute, Ervalia SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Donato Dante to maneuver through the defense. After recieving a nice pass, Matetui EC's Perivaldo Lima tried to score from far away in the 23rd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 25thth minute of the game Patrick Seco who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ervalia SS's José Maia was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Carlinhos de Toledo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Vicente de Barros tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 30th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ervalia SS's goalkeeper José Maia, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Betinho Machado succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 32nd playminute. Betinho Machados short, quick shot in the 35thth minute got José Maia to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The long shot by Betinho Correia in the 39th minute really tested José Maia's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Ervalia SS's José Maia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Patrick Seco in the 42nd minute of play. Donato Dante hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. Betinho Machado sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Patrick Seco was the one to do the kick off. If Patrick Seco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 56th minute Patrick Seco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José Maia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 63rd minute, Erasmo Bittencourt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ervalia SS's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
