The tension between the Tibagy and the Cai players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Tibagy's Arnaldo Saldanha got a free kick in the 17th minute. In the 26thth minute of the game João Carlos Montenegro who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Tibagy's Nilmar Leal was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 28 minutes of play, Cai's João Carlos Montenegro made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nilmar Leal was left in no man's land by his defense there! The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 35th minute of the game. One of Cai:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Tibagy:s goal. In the 41st minute Joel de Carvalho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ivo Salgado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ivo Salgado made an important save on a dangerous shot by Benê Soares in the 44th minute. Nilmar Leal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Percival Rosado in the 47th minute of the match.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Percival Rosado stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 56 minutes into the match, Cai's goal looked a bit too open when Sílvio Luís Trigo came free, but Ivo Salgado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. João Carlos Montenegro struck a weak shot in the 61st minute. Nilmar Leal didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cai. After 63 minutes, Wanderson Passos mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cai and the Tibagy players grew even worse after the yellow card. Ivo Salgado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joel de Carvalho, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Percival Rosado in the 70th minute of play forced Tibagy's goalkeeper Nilmar Leal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 73 minutes into the match, Tibagy's goal looked a bit too open when Agenor Santana came free, but Nilmar Leal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 75th minute, Luís Guerra hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ivo Salgado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joel de Carvalho in the 78th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Cai's zone, Sílvio Luís Trigo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ivo Salgado came out of the goal and Sílvio Luís Trigo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Joel de Carvalho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. Manolo Nóbrega kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. João Carlos Montenegro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 89th minute of the match, but Nilmar Leal made a huge save. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
