Taiba's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Clube Atletico Indaiatuba the free kick. Gerson Meireles didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Emenon Polanco went, in the 6th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. After having played for 9 minutes, Emenon Polanco managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Clube Atletico Indaiatuba's supporters crossed their fingers, but Emenon Polanco was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 13th minute, Cipriano Messias reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Júlio Sena. The goal made the score 1-1. Júlio Sena made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tadeu de Mendonça in the 18th minute of play. With a little luck, Clube Atletico Indaiatuba's Júlio Sena got control of the ball when Wiliam Alvarenga tried to sneak it across the goal line. Júlio Sena made a fantastic save in the 26th minute, when Wiliam Alvarenga sent off a good shot on target. Falcão Valadares charged in rather forcefully in the 29th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Falcão Valadares the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In a very dangerous position, a player in Taiba fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 28th minute. Penalty! The supporters of Clube Atletico Indaiatuba booed when Taiba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cipriano Messias didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 39 minutes, Luiz Fernando Pombal mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Clube Atletico Indaiatuba and the Taiba players grew even worse after the yellow card. After recieving a nice pass, Taiba's Glauco Matorin tried to score from far away in the 40th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Clube Atletico Indaiatuba's defense didn't have a chance, in the 43rd minute, when Tadeu de Mendonça scored to the left of an out of position Júlio Sena, making the score, 2-1. Júlio Sena made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claudinho Gomes in the 46th minute of play. Taiba's Tadeu de Mendonça got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

In the 52nd minute Tadeu de Mendonça shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Júlio Sena saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gerson Meireles stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Guga de Brito's shot from short distance in the 56th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Guga de Brito in the 59th minute of play forced Taiba's goalkeeper Gerson Meireles to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A sloppy throw-in by Ciro Diniz in the 64th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Clube Atletico Indaiatuba's Bernardo Tasso. Guga de Brito struck a weak shot in the 66th minute. Gerson Meireles didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Clube Atletico Indaiatuba. Júlio Sena made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tadeu de Mendonça in the 69th minute of play. Clube Atletico Indaiatuba's Júlio Sena played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cipriano Messias in the 72nd minute of play. In the 73rd minute, Abelardo do Vale hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience was convinced that Guga de Brito's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gerson Meireles was relentless in the 75th minute of the game. Júlio Sena made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claudinho Gomes in the 76th minute of play. Júlio Sena showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Claudinho Gomes in the 77th minute of the match. Taiba's Gerson Meireles played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Guga de Brito in the 79th minute of play. Tadeu de Mendonça sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 82 minutes of play, Clube Atletico Indaiatuba's Guga de Brito made it 2-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gerson Meireles was left in no man's land by his defense there! Júlio Sena made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tadeu de Mendonça in the 93rd minute of play. Júlio Sena took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wiliam Alvarenga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
